How to choose a breast pump

Choose a breast pump by where you'll pump and how often. A wearable suits you if you pump on the move.

Should I get a wearable or a double electric pump?
It depends mostly on where you'll pump. A wearable fits inside your bra, with no tubing or bottles. A double electric pump sits beside you, with tubing to its breast shields and bottles.
How often matters too. If pumping replaces your baby's feeds, expect many sessions a day. According to the Mayo Clinic, most newborns feed 8 to 12 times every 24 hours. At that pace, comfort and a motor built for long use matter most.
Two things won't decide it. All four Zomee pumps run at 46 dB. Each also has 2-Phase Mode, which switches on its own from quick stimulation to deeper expression, following a nursing baby's rhythm.
Should I get the W1 or the Zomee Fit?
Choose the Mother's Nature™ W1 if you want warmth to help with let-down, or a wearable that includes five sizes. Choose the Zomee Fit if you want an everyday wearable with only four washable parts.

Should I get the H1 or the Z2?
Choose the Mother's Nature H1 if you'll pump many times a day for months and want to set each side on its own. Choose the Zomee Z2 if you want a compact, lightweight double electric pump.
According to the U.S. Office on Women's Health, it's common for one breast to make more milk than the other. The H1 controls each side separately. It's the first breast pump with suction, speed, and cycle control on each side.

Will insurance cover my breast pump?
It may. Most plans cover a breast pump, but coverage varies by plan.
A durable medical equipment (DME) provider verifies your benefits, bills your insurance, and ships the pump. All four Zomee pumps are available through insurance. For questions about your coverage, call your plan's member services number.
If you pay out of pocket, you can usually use FSA or HSA dollars. IRS Publication 502 lists breast pumps and supplies that assist lactation as medical expenses.
How do I find my flange size?
Measure the widest part of your nipple tip in millimeters, then match it to the closest size on our flange sizing guide. Measure again with each pregnancy.
You should never feel pain while pumping, and flange size is one of the first things to check if you do. An incorrect size is also one of the most common reasons a new pump seems to have weak suction.
The W1, H1, and Zomee Fit each include a nipple ruler, and you can print one from the flange sizing guide.
The W1 includes five sizes: 24 mm breast shields and 15, 17, 19, and 21 mm inserts. The H1 includes two sizes: 19 and 21 mm Mother's Nature breast shields.

Questions moms ask
Can a wearable pump be my only pump?
It depends on how often you'll pump. The W1 has the same 300 mmHg hospital-grade suction as the H1 and the Z2, and the Zomee Fit reaches 280 mmHg. If pumping will replace most of your baby's feeds, look at the H1, which is rated for 3,000 pumping hours.
Can I pump one side at a time?
Yes, with all four Zomee pumps. The W1 and the Zomee Fit can pump both sides at the same time or one side at a time. The H1 and the Z2 work as a single or double pump.
Do I need to be near an outlet to pump?
No. All four Zomee pumps have a rechargeable battery. The W1, the Zomee Fit, and the Z2 run 2 hours or more per charge, and the H1 runs 2 hours and includes an AC adapter.
Can I check my insurance coverage online?
