Tabletop breast pumps: Mother's Nature™ H1 vs Zomee Z2

By The Zomee Team · Updated October 19, 2026

Pick the Mother's Nature™ H1 if you'll pump many times a day for months and want to set each side on its own. Pick the Zomee Z2 if you want a compact, lightweight pump for sessions at a home base, or you're ordering through insurance, where the Z2 is the favorite. Both are tabletop pumps: the pump sits beside you, and tubing runs to each breast.

Both have 300 mmHg hospital-grade suction, run at 46 dB, and keep milk out of the tubing with a closed system. Each runs on a rechargeable battery, includes an adapter, and has Shabbat Mode™ built in. The H1 has a 4-year pump warranty and the Z2 a 3-year pump warranty. The Mom Line™, staffed by real moms and CLCs, answers pump, sizing, and parts questions about both.

The H1 sets each side on its own

The H1 has a motor for each breast, so you set suction strength and cycle speed separately: 12 suction levels and 12 speed levels per side. It's the first breast pump with suction, speed, and cycle control on each side. Single Left, Single Right, Synchronous, and Alternate run the sides together or apart.

Many moms respond differently on each side. Start both sides low, and raise each only to a level that feels comfortable. Smart Memory brings back your last settings, and every session starts in Stimulation Mode.

The Z2 is compact, with 27 setting combinations

Three modes with 9 suction levels each give you 27 combinations, and Zomee's exclusive Alternate Mode works one breast, then the other, in a back-and-forth rhythm many moms find gentler. The Z2 is lightweight, an LCD screen shows every setting, and a night light helps you see the screen in the dark. The pump turns itself off after 30 minutes.

Pumping hours and warranty

The H1 is rated for 3,000 pumping hours and has a 4-year pump warranty. That suits exclusive pumping, twins, a NICU stay, and more than one pregnancy. The Z2 has a 3-year pump warranty. On both, parts are covered for 90 days.

Sizes and the box

The H1 includes a nipple ruler and two 30 ml colostrum containers for the earliest days. The Z2 includes no ruler, so print one from our flange sizing guide.

The H1 includes two sizes: 19 and 21 mm Mother's Nature breast shields. The Z2 includes four sizes: 17, 19, 21, and 24 mm flanges. Additional sizes available for free with Perfect Fit Promise™.

Hands-free pumping and Shabbat Mode™

Either pump goes hands-free with the Zomee Hands-Free Collection Cups or the 2-in-1 Pumping Bra, sold separately. The collection cups sit inside your bra and collect the milk instead of bottles, with tubing to the pump.

Shabbat Mode is built into both pumps, and both are Star-K certified. Before Shabbat, with the adapter connected, you set the session length, from 1 to 30 minutes, and the interval between sessions. The pump then starts and stops on that schedule with nothing to press. On Shabbat, use either pump with the collection cups or the 2-in-1 Pumping Bra.

Ordering through insurance

Both may be covered, and the Z2 is the insurance favorite in the Zomee lineup. Most plans cover a breast pump for each pregnancy, and coverage varies by plan. A durable medical equipment (DME) provider verifies your benefit and ships the pump. For questions about your coverage, call your plan's member services number.

Good to know

Comparison questions, answered

Can I pump one side at a time?

Yes. Both work as a single or double pump. The Z2 has Single Left, Single Right, and Alternate settings, and the H1 has those plus Synchronous.

Does more suction mean more milk?

Not on its own. Both pumps reach 300 mmHg. Turn suction up slowly and only to a level that feels comfortable. You should never feel pain while pumping. If a new pump feels weak, check your flange size first.

Can I take the H1 or the Z2 to work?

Yes. The H1 has a carry handle and a 2-hour battery. The Z2 is compact, and its battery lasts at least 2 hours. Both run at 46 dB.

Can I pump hands-free with the H1 or the Z2?

Yes, with the Zomee Hands-Free Collection Cups or the 2-in-1 Pumping Bra, both sold separately. The collection cups sit inside your bra and collect the milk instead of bottles.

Which flange size should I start with?

Measure the widest part of each nipple tip, not the base, and choose the closest size for each side. If you land exactly between two sizes, start with the smaller one. The H1 includes a nipple ruler, and you can print one from our flange sizing guide. If none of the included sizes fits, The Mom Line at 1-888-662-7159 can help you request a free pair in your size through our Perfect Fit Promise™.

Will insurance cover the H1 or the Z2?

It may. Both are available through insurance, and coverage varies by plan. For questions about your coverage, call your plan's member services number.
